Belle Magazine Article

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Kevin and I were recently featured in the “Man Issue” of Belle Magazine, a local magazine for women in the Upstate. I wrote an article about my husband’s obsession with America’s favorite pastime. It was fun to reflect on Kevin’s love of baseball and I was able to talk about our new book “God’s Lineup“.

They also ran a big picture of us with Maggie decked out in our Cardinals outfits. You can find the free magazine around the Upstate at different locations.

Reality Check: Fundraising Event for Water of Life

Friday, June 24th, 2011

I have been meeting with friends to help organize an event that will take place Sept. 17 at The Channel in downtown Greenville at 6 p.m.

The fundraiser, Reality Check, will feature reality tv stars from American Idol, America’s Got Talent, Biggest Loser and others. It will be a way for the public to interact in a really cool way with these stars.

Reality Check (you can also find us on Facebook) is helping bring the reality of safe drinking water to those around the world. We are in need of items for our silent auction and hope to also offer door prizes. Our goal is to raise enough money for Water of Life to drill two more wells that will impact hundreds of lives. Water of Life, a non-profit based in the Carolinas, is bringing clean water to countries such as Liberia, Sierra Leone, Gambia and India.

Hope to see you there!

My Photos in the Wall Street Journal

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

On our way to Rhode Island June 9, I received an email that was amazing. I shot photos for a friend of mine Alison Storm. They were of her and her friends and they have put together a traveling journal. Well, the Wall Street Journal was working on a story about it and they asked if they could use some of my photos!

The article is called “How to Keep the ‘Good’ in Goodbye”. All of the photos in the article are mine.

It was printed in the paper while I was in New York on Wednesday June 15 with several color photos. Never thought I would have photos in the WSJ. Very exciting!

Trip to NYC and Rhode Island

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

We recently returned from our trip to Rhode Island and New York City. A friend of mine was getting married in Narragansett, RI which is right on the water. It was beautiful! They were married at The Towers. It was a beautiful ceremony. Me, Kevin and Maggie also took the opportunity to head over to the Big Apple while up north. We stayed at the bride’s apartment in Astoria while she was on her honeymoon.

Our first adventure was a train ride from Rhode Island to Penn Station. It was Maggie’s first trip on a train. It was about 3 hours and lots of fun! We arrived in Times Square that afternoon and Maggie was wide-eyed at all of the hustle and bustle. She even began waving at people. The trip turned out to be fantastic and she did awesome as we walked for miles and rode the subway around the city. She seemed to enjoy the excitement. I don’t know how she did it, but she fell asleep several times even though there were sirens and horns honking. We saw the city from Top of the Rock, took the Circle Line Cruise around Manhattan and enjoyed a picnic in Central Park.

We could only stay for a few days, but it was worth it. I’d love to go again and see even more of the city. Maybe we could even venture into the Bronx where my grandfather grew up and also see my Godmother in Central Islip. It was a great trip for Maggie and she was a trooper.
